Scriptural views on prosperity

Making a Difference

making a difference

God sent Jesus to preach good news to me, to heal my broken heart, to announce my freedom from the prison house of sin and death, and to pardon me. He sent Him to announce to me the year of His grace – a celebration of the destruction of my enemies – and to comfort me as I mourn, to care for my needs, to give me bouquets of roses instead of ashes, messages of joy instead of news of doom, to give me a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. He renamed me an Oak of Righteousness planted by Him to display His glory! (Based on Isaiah 61:1-3 MSG)

This affirmation tells me that God wants me to grow and flourish in all areas of my life; He wants me to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

You have probably heard of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. It’s not new. This is the hierarchy:-

Level 5 – Self-actualisation / fulfillment
Level 4 – Self-esteem & recognition
Level 3 – Belonging & love
Level 2 – Safety & security- self-preservation
Level 1 – Physiological – food & shelter, survival

Maslow puts self-centred needs at the bottom – the basic needs, but finishes off with self-actualisation at the top – orientation to service and connection with others. These needs are genuine. They are part of our humanity – the way God has made us. The higher needs in this hierarchy only come into focus when the lower needs are met. Once an individual has moved upwards to the next level, needs in the lower level will no longer be prioritised. If a lower set of needs is no longer being met, the individual will temporarily re-prioritise those needs by focusing attention on the unfulfilled needs, but will not permanently regress to the lower level. E.g. a man having an asthma attack focuses at that moment purely on the need for air, rather than the need for a sense of fulfillment in his life …

Accept the gifts

I accept

Recently I’ve realised more fully that the best I can do for my Saviour is to accept everything He has done, and wants to do, for me! If I invite Him to do so, He will give me faith, cleansing from sin, and love. These three gifts empower me to live the Christian life – a life of success and fulfillment.

Therefore I speak these words of affirmation and power:-

“I have faith in Jesus Christ – I accept it”

“I am covered by the merits of Jesus’ blood – I accept the atonement”

“I am filled with His love – I accept His love for me and His pouring it into my heart”

The Bible verses that I claim are:-

1 Corinthians 12.7-9 NIV Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,

Romans 12.3 NIV …in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

Jude 1.3 CEV …I must write and ask you to defend the faith that God has once for all given to his people.

1 John 1:7 NIV But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

Lev 17.13 NLT It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.

Rev 7.15 NIV And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Romans 5:5 NKJV Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

In Love

When that love, as you read the Bible, comes into your heart it has the power to transform your life in ways that cannot be described. It works a lot like a human relationship. A love relationship works on an interesting level. Two people meet each other. They begin to take walks together and they begin to know each other. The more time they spent together the more attracted they became toward each other. They began to discover things about each other. Sweetness, kindness, loveliness, and other things begin to manifest themselves to each other.

inlove They begin to spend more time together. The more time they spend together the more they begin to enjoy each other. Pretty soon they really like each other. Pretty soon it is more than like it is love. Pretty soon all they want to do is spend time with each other and make each other happy. Then all they want to do is to be with each other for the rest of their lives.

That is how a love relationship grows. Love grows, trust grows. It is the same thing with Christ. When we get into the Bible we begin to realize that Christ is an awesome person. He was not just the person that walked on this earth. He loved people. That love begins to touch your heart. God loves me. God loves you. He knows how many hairs are on my head. He knows how many hairs you lost in the blow dryer this morning. He is acquainted with me. God says, “I know you so well. I created you in your mother’s womb. Now I want to enter into a love relationship with you.”

You spend time with Him. You grow in a love relationship with Him. This brings this beautiful life of love and joy and power, and Jesus becomes your best friend. You have begun you day with God. You have spent time with Him. Now comes another important aspect of this relationship with God.

Communication with God. This is prayer. This boils down to four simple elements. They are a very important part of life mastery.

· Praising and thanking God.

· Expressing your love to God.

· Talking to God about specific things such as physical or spiritual desires.

· Interceding for others.

Precious to God

There is only one of you in the entire universe. This makes you very special indeed. The way you look. The colour of your hair. Your personality everything God designed from the moment you where in your mother’s womb. You are precious to God.

precious He loves you with a love that is incomprehensible. He wants you to know Him as your Creator. He is an incredible God but He is small enough to live in my heart and He wants to live in your heart as well. He wants to fill us with His very power and presence. I accept you Lord God. Come into my life and make me whole.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jeremiah 31:3

“I have loved thee with an everlasting love, Therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.”

God wants us to know that He loves us in a very personal way. He loves me! He wants to enter into a relationship with me, and fill me with His power. Fill you with His power!

Hosea 14:4

“I will heal their back sliding, I will love them freely.”

Romans 5:8

“But God commanded his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”

Romans 8:25-39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Bible is filled with one thing, love. This thing called love is the most powerful emotion that we can experience in our physical body. Many of us go through life without love. We never got love. We never got it from our parents, we don’t get from our society. Nobody can care less about us in society. God wants us to know that our life can be filled with His love every single day.

Ephesians 3:17-19

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that you might be filled with all fullness of God.”

When that love as you read the Bible comes into your heart it has the power to transform your life in ways that cannot be described.
