Scriptural views on prosperity

Just Take It

God gives me the victory. I take it. I believe and consider myself dead to that sin. I make absolutely no provision for my habit. Then the power of God literally does a miracle in my life. The story is told of Peter the disciple in the Bible. Peter was out on a boat at night with the other disciples. He looked across the water and he saw Jesus. Jesus was out there walking on water. Peter was just amazed and intrigued. He looked at Jesus and said, “Lord, I want to walk on the water too”.

walking on water Can anybody walk on water? Yes or no. No, nobody can walk on water. It is humanly impossible. The Lord looked at Peter. He spoke two words. He said, “Peter come”. That is all He said, “Peter come”. Peter heard those two words. He knew that God could not lie. So he stepped out of the boat. He stepped on the water. What did Peter do? He walked on the water. He walked on the water all the way to Jesus Christ. Peter did what was humanly impossible.

Peter did it. How did Peter walk on water? He walked by faith in Jesus. He had faith in God’s Word. It was only two words. “Peter come”. When Peter believed, he walked on water. When he believed the Word of God, God did the miracle. That is the power of God. We need to realise it.

When people have problems they go home and pray about it, “Lord give me strength”. This never works because we are denying what God has already done for us. We need only to acknowledge and thank God. I believe that when I have a problem, God has already given me the victory. I just have to take it. God says, “Believe you are dead to it. Get rid of anything that feeds the habit. The victory is instant. It is here. It is now.

Peter was able to walk on water not because he could, but because he simply believed the Word of God. Two words. “Peter come”. When Peter believed it, God did the miracle. When I believe every Word that is in the Bible my life is going to know a power that is literally limitless and my life will never ever end. We all have this promise from God. Just take it.

Get Rid Of It

bigtobacco When the temptation comes to smoke. Go back to the promise. “God give me the victory. I am dead I can’t smoke anyway. I am dead. Praise God. Thank you for giving me the victory.” When a temptation comes to me, or any habit that tempts me to sin, smoking, drinking, losing my temper, whatever it is, whenever it comes I turn to God and say, “God you gave me the victory, I stand on your Word and I believe it. Lord I am dead. I can’t do it.” My friends want me to smoke, “Sorry I am dead. I can’t smoke because I am dead.” I make it fun, I make it real. Can’t do it if you are dead.

STEP 1

1Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, which GIVETH us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

STEP 2

Romans 6:11

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be DEAD indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

STEP 3

Romans 13:14

But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and MAKE NOT PROVISION FOR THE FLESH, to fulfil the lust thereof.

In this third step, I have a part to play. I am to make no contribution to my habit. I get rid of anything that feeds or contributes to the habit. Again let’s say it is cigarettes. I have accepted the victory that God has given me over smoking. I believe with all my heart that I am dead to smoking. I must make no provision.

My flesh wants tobacco. My flesh want nicotine. My flesh wants stimulants. God says I must make no provision. So I have to get rid of all cigarettes in my life. No cigarettes in my house, in my pockets, in the car. I had in the early day to avoid any friends who encouraged me to smoke. I avoided the situations that urged me to smoke, a party, whatever it was.

When you get rid of everything, here is what happens. God at that point can do a miracle in your life. We have just done three things.

1. God gave you the victory. You took it. It is done. No more struggling. It is finished.

2. God says, “Reckon that you are dead to it.” You believe you are dead. Whenever temptation comes, “I am dead.”

3. You make no provision for the flesh. Get rid of it. Get rid of the alcohol. Get rid of pornography. Get rid of the cigarettes. Get rid of whatever is contributing to your bad habit.

When you take those three steps the most amazing thing happens. The power of God literally does a miracle in your life.

I Am Dead

dead to sin God stands in our life and says, “I am giving you the victory. I am giving you the victory over your temper.” Now if God gives me something, what do I have to do to get it? I take it. I take the victory. It is so simple, it is hard. As adults we want to know if there is something that we have to do to get the victory from God. Nothing. Just take it. “Don’t I have to try to keep the Sabbath?” No, it is done for you. Just take the victory.

It is contrary to our nature to just take it. We have a hard time accepting it. We need to understand this concept, that victory is a gift from God, then there is no stress, there is no pressure to try to quit the bad habit. I do not have to battle with my bad habits anymore, I do not have to fight anymore.

I can just sit back and relax and say, “Thank you God. I accept your gift of victory. I believe your Word. I believe you have given me victory, therefore it is out of my life. Thank you Lord God.” This is powerful. I believe that God can give me victory on any limiting habit I am willing to quit. This is the first step.

STEP 1

1Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, which GIVETH us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is the key thing. No longer will we pray, “Dear Jesus, give me the strength, dear Jesus help me not to do this today.” No we need to forget this kind of prayer because Jesus has given us the victory and we need to thank Him. Jesus wants us to have the victory therefore He gives it to us. He has already given it to us. We just need to take it. It is simple . I no longer complicate it.

STEP 2

Romans 6:11

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be DEAD indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God says that once I have given you the victory, then whenever that sin or habit comes into your life again reckon that you are dead. If you are dead, can you smoke? No. If you are dead can you lose your temper? No. If you are dead can you yell? No. If you are dead can you snuff cocaine? No. If you are dead you cannot do it anymore. It is impossible. God says that we are to think of ourselves as dead.

Let’s say you have a problem smoking. You are on the job. The craving comes to smoke. “Boy I would like to have a smoke.” What are you going to do? You can say I am going to try to quit. God give me strength. You will fail.

When the temptation comes to smoke, go back to the promise “God give me the victory. I am dead I can’t smoke anyway. I am dead. Praise God. Thank you for giving me the victory.”

No Smoking

There is a five minute plan that God has to eliminate any limiting thing in life. A plan that works is welcome. So I wanted to know. First you must be willing to let God give you the victory on the limiting habit and choose to no longer do it. This is my choice, your choice. We know that we have to take responsibility for our life. You make a decision, OK I want this to change in my life.

winning We will use smoking as an illustration. I apply this on other limiting habits that I have. You can quit smoking just like that. It works for alcohol, it works for your temper, it works for everything. Do you want to know?

Follow very carefully. When it comes to gaining a victory in your life, or overcoming something that is destroying our life, a bad habit, there are two ways it can be done. The first way is the way we have always done it – to try to quit the habit. I have tried and never quit. When you try to quit a bad habit, YOU TRY, you work at it. You always fail. Actually you can’t quit a bad habit. After all these years that has become clear.

We need to learn how to claim the victory over that habit, or behaviour that is limiting our life. When you learn to claim the victory, God does it all. It is so easy, so simple. It is so simple it is hard. It is so simple most people don’t do it. You cannot be taught how to quit your bad habits – because you can’t. We learn how to claim the victory and let God do it all. It is so simple it is hard to believe.

There are three steps.

STEP 1

1Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, which GIVETH us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you have something in your life that you need victory over? Temper? Anger? Lust of the flesh? Have you got something in your life that you need to overcome? I do. If you want to stop this habit and get it out of your life the Bible says, “Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory…” Victory is a gift from God. Soak it in. Right into your conscious mind. Victory is a gift from God. If I need victory over anything from God, let us say ,smoking, I thank God who gives me the victory.

God stands here and says, “I am giving you the victory. I am giving you the victory over your temper.” Now if God gives me something, what do I have to do to get it? I take it. I take the victory.

Pray For Me

Many things happen to our children our friends and people we like. We want them to have a better life but we cannot do anything. We want them to have a better choice. God Himself cannot do anything. When we pray for other people, our children, our friends, our co-worker, it allows God to do things in that person’s life that He can’t otherwise do. This is an incredible Bible principle.

father and son You can pray for a son or daughter that has gone in a different direction. They have gone off and are limiting their life in a terrible way. You can pray for God to bring circumstances, or providences, or miracles, or a slap in their life to get their attention with a crisis. You can pray for God to bring extraordinary things in their life. When you pray it gives God permission to be able to do it and counteract the enemy, the devil and Satan out there. The most amazing thing is when you begin to experience this it changes your life.

I have prayed for someone and I have seen God answer my prayer. It has happened to me. There is a God. He is as real as I am real writing here. I can say truly that I know that God has answered my prayer. It was an awesome thing when I realized that I was in touch with an awesome power. God says that when I am His all heaven is at my disposal.

When you see God answer that prayer. When you see God perform that miracle. When you see God’s providence do something that was impossible you begin to realise there is power. Power that you have never begun to experience in life.

Christianity and a belief in God as you master your life is not some theory. It is a living, vibrant, open, dynamic relationship that is real and powerful and you’ve got to live it every day. There is nothing like it. I am encouraged every day I am living it.

An important thing when it comes to living this life of prayer is to understand God’s five minute plan to eliminate any bad or limiting habit that is in your life. It works says Leo Schreven. This plan works for any limiting habit in life. Alcohol problem? Smoking problem? Problem loosing you temper? Lust of the flesh problem? It works for every single thing that might be limiting in your life.

It’s just three steps.

Communication with God

Communication with God is prayer. This boils down to four simple elements. They are a very important part of life mastery. The first element follows.

· Praising and thanking God.

Prayer is simply praising and thanking God for all your blessings. I start my mornings praising God for everything that I ought to be thankful for. Then I am assured of a positive happy day. I can’t help it but I am then in a positive happy mental attitude.

girlinprayer Every day when I wake up , when I open my eyes, I thank God. I thank God for the roof over my head. I thank you Lord for friends. Thank you Lord that I have food to eat again today. Thank you for my precious wife beside me. Thank you Lord for all the blessings you have given me. There is always so much to be thankful for.

A good part of life mastery is learning to change the focus of our minds. If you focus on negative things you will have a bad day. “Oh what a terrible day it is today. I have to go to work. I have to face the grind again today.” Without a doubt you will have a bad day.

Start your day praising God in your devotion and you will have a great day. You are automatically happy. It changes everything in your life. You will be in a positive state.

· Expressing your love to God.

There is a little saying. “Expression deepens impression.” As I read the Bible verse about God’s love to me, I respond. I want to love God too. I want to please God today. It becomes a beautiful love relationship when I express my love to Him.

Some people are lonely. Their husband left them. Or their wife left them. Some people are single and lonely. God can fill a void here and fill you with love. You can respond in love. It is a wonderful way to live.

· Talking to God about specific things such as physical or spiritual desires.

This is a very important part of daily devotion and I will cover this in the next blog.

· Interceding for others.

To learn to pray and intercede for other people. This is a beautiful concept. It is a Bible teaching. It helps to make us experience the power of God on a daily basis. This is how it works. When people choose to follow sin and a life of limitation and depression and anger and all the things that limit peoples’ lives, when they choose that, God’s hands are somewhat tied. This is because God will not force someone to do what He says.

In Love

When that love, as you read the Bible, comes into your heart it has the power to transform your life in ways that cannot be described. It works a lot like a human relationship. A love relationship works on an interesting level. Two people meet each other. They begin to take walks together and they begin to know each other. The more time they spent together the more attracted they became toward each other. They began to discover things about each other. Sweetness, kindness, loveliness, and other things begin to manifest themselves to each other.

inlove They begin to spend more time together. The more time they spend together the more they begin to enjoy each other. Pretty soon they really like each other. Pretty soon it is more than like it is love. Pretty soon all they want to do is spend time with each other and make each other happy. Then all they want to do is to be with each other for the rest of their lives.

That is how a love relationship grows. Love grows, trust grows. It is the same thing with Christ. When we get into the Bible we begin to realize that Christ is an awesome person. He was not just the person that walked on this earth. He loved people. That love begins to touch your heart. God loves me. God loves you. He knows how many hairs are on my head. He knows how many hairs you lost in the blow dryer this morning. He is acquainted with me. God says, “I know you so well. I created you in your mother’s womb. Now I want to enter into a love relationship with you.”

You spend time with Him. You grow in a love relationship with Him. This brings this beautiful life of love and joy and power, and Jesus becomes your best friend. You have begun you day with God. You have spent time with Him. Now comes another important aspect of this relationship with God.

Communication with God. This is prayer. This boils down to four simple elements. They are a very important part of life mastery.

· Praising and thanking God.

· Expressing your love to God.

· Talking to God about specific things such as physical or spiritual desires.

· Interceding for others.

Precious to God

There is only one of you in the entire universe. This makes you very special indeed. The way you look. The colour of your hair. Your personality everything God designed from the moment you where in your mother’s womb. You are precious to God.

precious He loves you with a love that is incomprehensible. He wants you to know Him as your Creator. He is an incredible God but He is small enough to live in my heart and He wants to live in your heart as well. He wants to fill us with His very power and presence. I accept you Lord God. Come into my life and make me whole.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jeremiah 31:3

“I have loved thee with an everlasting love, Therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.”

God wants us to know that He loves us in a very personal way. He loves me! He wants to enter into a relationship with me, and fill me with His power. Fill you with His power!

Hosea 14:4

“I will heal their back sliding, I will love them freely.”

Romans 5:8

“But God commanded his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”

Romans 8:25-39

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Bible is filled with one thing, love. This thing called love is the most powerful emotion that we can experience in our physical body. Many of us go through life without love. We never got love. We never got it from our parents, we don’t get from our society. Nobody can care less about us in society. God wants us to know that our life can be filled with His love every single day.

Ephesians 3:17-19

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that you might be filled with all fullness of God.”

When that love as you read the Bible comes into your heart it has the power to transform your life in ways that cannot be described.

You Are Special

Leo Schriven reports that within a couple of months of spending a half hour in the four gospels his temper was gone. It was gone. All the negative hatred that he had in his life to everybody was gone. He had a the foulest mouth a cowboy could possibly have. In two months it was gone. He was always mad, always lost his temper, hated everybody. In a couple of months it was gone. He began to experience this thing called the power of God.

fish If I want to live this incredible life of achievement and success I must tap into this incredible source of life and power every single day. I am doing this. It will cause me to master my life forever. I am promised. So can you.

When you tap into this source of power. One thing is very important. Communication. In every relationship, husband and wife and so on , communication is very important. Yes, that right communication. When you enter into this communicating relationship. A lot of things will come into play that you have never seen before and never understood before. It becomes very personal.

Psalms 139:13-17

“Thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb, I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My substance was not hid from thee when I was made in secret… Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect, and in thy book all body parts were written which one at a time were fashioned, when as yet there were none of them How precious are thy thoughts to me O God!”

God says here that from the time I was conceived in my mother’s womb He knew me. Before any of my body parts were fashioned He knew me. At the moment of conception He had a book where everything was written about me. What does this mean? It means then that there is only one of me, in the entire universe. This is awesome. This makes me very special. The way I look. The colour of my hair. My personality everything, God knows about me. And you.

Into The Word

Jesus taught eternal truth that lasts forever. He gave us principles to live by to master every area of our life to live this abundant life that He wants us to live by. He is an incredible positive role model. The Bible changes people’s lives. It has changed mine. It changes men and women’s life.

One contributing reason for changed lives is because Jesus Christ’s words are different from anybody else’s words. This is what Jesus claimed.

John 6:63

“The words I speak to you are life.”

JESUS’ WORDS CONTAIN THE POWER TO DO WHAT THEY SAY!

intotheword Jesus says that the Words that He speaks are life. Most of what we hear in society brings death and is sinful. Jesus’ Words are literally life. That is why we say that Jesus’ words contain the power to do exactly what they say. They will. When I read God’s word in a daily devotional time and I begin to digest Gods Word then that life of God literally becomes a part of my being and my soul.

Psalms 33:6-9

“By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, for he spoke and it was done, he commanded and it stood fast.”

There is power in the Word of God. In the beginning God spoke and life came into existence. God spoke and there was the sun. Jesus demonstrated this when He was here on earth. He spoke and dead people were raised. He spoke and the weather obeyed. There is power in the Word of God and when I read the Word of God every day and put it in my mind that power of God literally comes into my flesh and into my body and into my mind and it changes my life forever. I am tapped into a source of power literally that is limitless and I can achieve anything that I want to in my life. I am encouraged. I get into the Word of God every single day. This is more important than anything I do in life. My daily devotional time.

Here is a recommendation. Read the books Matthew, Mark, Luke and John for half an hour every day for a month. That is all you got to do. You will read Matthew, Mark , Luke and John for a half an hour every day for a month. You may hate it if you have never got into the Word of God before. There is a reason why you may not like it.

If you have been living a life that is limited and mediocre like 99% of society you are not automatically going to enjoy the Word of God. But you got to master your life and daily take small steps. Take a small step. This is a small step. Determine to do it. Get up tomorrow morning and begin to take that daily devotional time. Don’t stop. Stick with it. By the second week it will begin to make sense. By the third week you will be enjoying it. By the fourth week you will begin to understand the power that is in the Bible. I do not understand it. I do not understand nuclear physics either but I know it works. Personally I am blessed by my half hour in the Word of God every day.
