Scriptural views on prosperity

Responsible for my Life

Anybody can achieve success. You do not need to be an intellectual. You do not need to be someone special. Success is as predictable as the sunrise. Therefore anybody can achieve success. Including me. If your life has been a failure it is not because of one act. To be a failure you have to go down in your life step by step. Not giving 100%. Not improving yourself. Not caring and so on. This translates into a step by step downward trend.

Businessman Thinking Success is the same way. It is a step by step progress up. Using your will. Giving 100%. A life of success and achievement is built one step at a time. Steady daily progress. It never happens instantly. Plan to make 1% improvement today, another 1% tomorrow and another 1% the following day and so on.

Within a year your life will literally explode with power. With the passing of time you make it a way of life. It is not something you just do once when you hear it. It should become who you are. A great way to live.

After the decision is made, you’ve got to take responsibility of your life.

Accepting responsibility for your life

is the starting point of all great accomplishment.

As I look at my life. I realise I am the architect of my life. I am responsible for the destiny of my life. I am the driver behind the wheel of my life. I am where I am, I am what I am in life because of my own choices, my own decisions and using the power that I have to put me where I am today. I accept responsibility. It is not my parents’ fault who raised me a certain way, it is not the government. It is not because I was raised poor or that I did not have opportunities or any other thing. It is me. I am totally responsible for my life, my character, my decisions. I am responsible for everything that has ever happened to me in my life. This is an important step. I am taking this step today.

“IF IT IS TO BE, IT’S UP TO ME.”

teamsuccessEven God will not force your will. He will not force my will. The acceptance of personal responsibility for your life is literally the starting point of all success. Without the acceptance of personal responsibility for your life there is nothing else that will take place. There is a one to one relationship between the amount of responsibility you are willing to take in your life and the amount of success you are going to enjoy in your life. You can spot a winner all the time. How do you spot a winner? A winner is always somebody who looks to himself as the cause of what is happening in his life. A loser is always making excuses. Always blaming somebody else. Always blaming Mom and Dad or whoever. The government, the job, the home, the school, the teacher. “I was brought up this way. That is what they did to me.”

I want to get past this. I will not blame my parents, my country, my friends, my family. I will not blame my past or my present. I am from now on responsible for my life. Now I am ready to take the second step towards a life of success and achievement.

Commit to be Wealthy

The first step to a life of achievement and power and success is to trust and reverence the Lord. Get it together with God. God does not play favourites. We are all created equal. We are all created unique but with equal opportunity. We experience life to the fullest. All successful people realize that, believe that and come to a turning point when they claim responsibility of their life. “ I am responsible for my life and I am going to go forward with my life”.

goodlifeMacDonald’s has over 30,000 outlets and it is reported that they have never had a single outlet fail. Why? MacDonald’s is a proven success system. It simple works. It is the same with life mastery. They are principles in the Word of God. These principles just work. Therefore it follows that if I learn and apply them they should work for me. Same applies to you reader. Let’s explore them.

Mastering life is really not difficult. It boils down to two principles.

TO SUCCEED, YOU ONLY NEED 2 THINGS:

1. A desire on your part.

2. A commitment to follow through in your daily life and apply they principles based on the Word of God.

All the dreams then that I have can happen in my life. Most people never commit to become wealthy. This is a fact. Most Christians never commit to become wealthy.

Taking the developed world as an example, consider 100 people at age 65 after 40 years of work:

1 Will be wealthy

4 Will be financially independent.

15 Will have a minimal savings, – not enough to retire on.

80 Will be flat broke, or in debt.

window After years of hard work only 1 will be financially wealthy. Only 4 of them are going to be financially independent and be able to take care of themselves. 15 will have minimal savings but not enough to retire on. 80 out of 100 will be flat broke or in debt. This is shocking because we are living in one of the most affluent societies in the world. This is a terrible way to end up. This is what the Bible says.

Proverbs 3: 16-17

Wisdom gives a long good life, riches, honour, pleasure, and peace.

Every single one of us wants a long good life. Is that not right? Every one of us wants riches. Is that not right? Do you want to be rich? Do you want to have honour and pleasure? I do. Do you want peace? Personal peace? These are the things we all desire the most in life. The only way I am going to get this is to do it God’s way. I must have God’s wisdom and follow the Bible’s plan. Let’s take a look at life. What makes a difference in people quality of life? What makes people think like they think? Act like they act? Behave like they behave? Do the things that they do?

The difference in the quality of peoples life, whether they are successful or not does not come down to capability. What people can do is often very different from what they do. Very different indeed. It boils down to your will. Willpower is something that I have started to exercising. I am learning how to exercise my will. My willpower will change my life. “I want to change my life. I have come to the point in my life where I want to have mastery of my life”.

Millionaires. Let’s take a look at them. 80% of the millionaires in the world are self made. 97% of the millionaires never spent a single day in college. These facts tell us that anybody can achieve success. You do not need to be an intellectual, you don’t have to be anybody special.

The First Step in a Successful Life

I want to achieve a life of POWER. I want to live a life of full potential to reach my God given potential. This is what the experts say. “No more effort is required to aim high in life, or to demand excellence and success, than is required to accept failure and poverty.” I can with the same effort be successful as I can be a total failure. I really want to be successful in every area of my life. Here is the first step. FORGET THE PAST! Just because I have been a failure. I must master this idea. Just because I was a failure today, or last week, or last month or a failure all my life. A failure in my marriage? A failure in my finances. I doesn’t matter one bit.

Philippians 3:13

I don’t consider that I have taken hold of it yet. But here is the one thing I do. I forget what is behind me. I push hard toward what is ahead of me.

covenant Right! Whatever my past has been, I have put it behind me. I move forward in my life tonight. I can either move forward, or standstill, or go backwards. I am taking the time to move forward. I am putting my life together. I am going to take time to apply everything I learn. I am learning hundreds of things about myself I did not know. I am going to find out how come I do things I shouldn’t do. I am going to learn. My trainer tells me I will explode with power.

There are many personal development programs out there. Many achievement courses that I have in the last three years that I have been attending and yes I can testify they help me. I am excited about my continual development program with Success University. My association with BWW. My association with Toastmasters. All these programs are really good. And they teach the principals of life mastery. I want to add that as a Christian adding the dimension of the spiritual makes this one course powerful. Stay with me. See if I change. The spiritual principles are the single most powerful tool that exist in the universe that we have access to as human beings to change our life and transform our lives into achievement and success.

Proverbs 9:9-1

Teach a wise man. He will become even wiser.  Teach a person who does right. He will learn even more. If you really want to become wise, you must begin by having respect for the Lord. To know the Holy One is to gain understanding.”

If you want understanding in your life, if you want understanding in your marriage, if you want understanding in your emotions, every dimension in your life, if you want understanding it begins with knowing God. Master this and you have begun to understand the first principle of life.

John 15:5

…for without Me you can do nothing.

HOWEVER

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

It means that anything is possible in your life if you do it God’s way. Do you believe that? I do. I can do all things through Christ who is my strength. If you are a Christian then this is powerful. I believe in God’s Word. He cannot lie. That means that I can do all things in every area of my life when I do it God’s way. This here is the most powerful dimension in my life. It is the single most powerful principle that is available which if we master then we have mastery over every dimension of our lives. Success in every area of my life. Prayer, my relationship with God, these are the tools and I am going to master in my life to give me a brand new direction. I want to enjoy life to the full. Here is a wonderful promise to talk to heart.

businesswomanProverbs 2:20

Follow the steps of the Godly instead, and stay on the right path,

for only good men enjoy life to the full.”

Here lies the elements necessary to live a successful life. These are coming from the Scriptures and therefore I pray that as we pursue success we will not be misunderstood. The Book of Proverbs is dedicated to life mastery. It was written by one of the wisest, one of the most successful, one of the most highly achieved men, certainly one of the richest and wealthiest that has ever lived. His name King Solomon. He had a lot of wisdom. He had an incredible insight into life. He wrote Proverbs. It is nothing but a book of wisdom.

In the beginning of the book he gives the reasons why he wrote.

Proverb 1:1-7

These are the proverbs of king Solomon of Israel, he wrote them to teach his people how to live, how to act in every circumstance, for he wanted them to be understanding, just, and fair in everything that they did. “I want to make the simple minded wise,” he said. “I want to warn young men about some problems they will face. I want those that are wise to become the wiser and become leaders by exploring the depths of meaning in these nuggets of truth. How does a man become wise? The first step is to trust and reverence the Lord!”

That is the first step. I want to understand what God says on the subject of success.

MIND-SET 2

In the last blog we started to explore the idea of renewing our minds. We learned that if we renew our minds, God will transform our lives. Here we look at God’s promises for our lives, to find some ‘mind steps’ we can take to move to where we want to be.

Our thought choices

Dock We determine, by our own thought choices, which way our life is going to go, drawing in what we constantly think about. By dwelling on the promises of God, you will develop a positive attitude of faith and be propelled towards greatness and the good things of God, just as iron filings are pulled across a desk by a magnet. Yes, if you will transform your mind, God will transform your life.

If a thought brings fear, worry, doubt or unbelief, if it makes you feel weak, inadequate or insecure, then it’s not from God and needs dismissing immediately.

… bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,… 2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV

Instead say ‘I can do all things through Christ. I’m coming out of this. Like Joseph, whatever I put my hands to do shall prosper.’

…the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand. Genesis 39:3 NKJV

Choose to dwell on what you have, not on what you don’t have. Dwell on the great future that God has in store for you rather than on all your problems, on thoughts of failure or loss, on all the people that have hurt you, or all the mistakes you’ve made. Your subconscious will respond to those positive thoughts and you’ll move towards a happy positive life. If you can see the invisible, God will do the impossible.

Speak affirmations
Lastly, here are some positive affirmations based on Scriptural promises. Say them out loud with emotion! Yes shout them out with conviction! That way you will hear them, and so will your subconscious. You will have started to renew your mind so that God can transform you into who He dreams you to be. God will perform His word.

I am ready to perform My word. Jeremiah 1:12 NKJV

i099aIt will not return to Him empty but will accomplish what He pleases, and will prosper in the thing for which He sent it.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11 NKJV

  1. My mind is stayed on You Lord. Thank you that you keep me in perfect peace. I trust in You. From Isaiah 26:3

2. Because I live according to the Spirit, I set my mind on spiritual things. From Romans 8:5.

3. I am spiritually-minded, which is life and peace to me. From Romans 8:6

4. I am transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I may prove that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. From Romans 12:2

5. I bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. From 2 Corinthians 10:5

6. I am not deceived. My mind is not corrupted away from the simplicity that is in Christ. From 2 Corinthians 11:3

7. I am renewed in the spirit of my mind. From Ephesians 4:23

8. This mind that is in me was also in Christ. From Philippians 2:5

9. I set my mind on things above, not on things on the earth. From Colossians 3:2

10. Lord I am like Joseph. You make all that I do to prosper in my hand. From Genesis 39:3

11. Thank you Lord for putting Your law in my mind and writing it on my heart. From Jeremiah 31:33, Hebrews 8:10 and Hebrews 10:16

12. Things which are impossible with men are possible with God. From Luke 18:27

13. I have the mind of Christ. From 1 Corinthians 2:16

14. The peace of God guards my heart and mind, through Christ Jesus. From Philippians 4:7

15. God has already given me the spirit of power, the spirit of love and the spirit of a sound mind. From 2 Timothy 1:7

Powerful stuff! To God be the glory.

MIND-SET 1

I want to explore the relationship between our conscious and our subconscious mind, and the role of our self image and our emotions; how we can use this knowledge to purposefully align ourselves with God’s will for our lives. It’s a super-powerful mastermind alliance.

Joel Osteen’s book “Your Best Life Now” (Osteen 2005) has had a great impact on me and has inspired much of the following material. Reading Osteen and other Christian personal development authors has opened my eyes to the power of our choice of thoughts and words to change the course of our lives.

praying You have a great future

We consciously use only about 2% of our brain. The rest of our brain is our subconscious, which is neither positive nor negative, and has no moral stand. It simply responds to what our conscious mind is thinking about. If you are expecting defeat, failure, or mediocrity, your subconscious mind will line itself up with those thoughts and make sure that you lose, fail or sabotage every attempt to push above average. Scary but true. So contrary to the common view, it’s imperative that you ‘get your hopes up’.

Your self image resides in your subconscious. It works as a ‘governor’ that controls your actions and performance. When you exceed your expectations or go a little too far, your self image pulls you back in line. If you fall below the setting, your self image will pull you up. I strongly recommend that you ask God to help you develop your self image. Ask in faith and He will respond. As your self image improves you’ll be amazed at how your abilities excel.

So we move towards what we see in our minds – it’s a spiritual principle as well as a psychological fact. In short, I am transformed by the renewing of my mind.

…. be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 NKJV

In this process God is limited only by our faith. It is essential to stay in an attitude of faith and expectancy, declaring God’s favour over your life. Be on the lookout for God’s goodness. When you are going through tough times, more than ever you must choose to be favour-minded. Start declaring God’s favour. Start expecting God’s favour.

When you really understand that you have this favour available to you, you’ll ask for things you haven’t previously asked for. You’ll view your adversities in a new way. You’ve got an edge. Remember that the things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

…. He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” Luke 18:27 NKJV

Let that seed take root inside you. You don’t have to figure out how God is going to solve your problems. That’s His responsibility. Your job is to be a believer.

Poverty Mentality?

God created us in His image. He thought it was a good idea to give you that special feature you have, or that unusual personality trait! He sees you as His special masterpiece!

When we go through life with a poverty mentality, it is not glorifying to God. He has put incredible potentials, gifts and talents within us, ready for us to use as we start seeing ourselves as He sees us. We need to step out in faith and act on the dreams and the desires that HE has placed in our hearts.

God has blessed you with every spiritual blessing. In fact you have everything you need right now to fulfil your God-given destiny. And as His children prosper spiritually, physically and materially, their increase brings God pleasure.

You may remember the story of Mephibosheth. He was the grandson of King Saul, but his image of himself kept him from receiving the privileges that rightfully belonged to him. We are children of the King of kings! We need to think of ourselves as such. Even more than that, incredible though it sounds, we have the mind of Christ!

… we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV

iStock_000004423416XSmall Somehow when we identify ourselves with Jesus and everything He has done for us, we develop the same mind as Him. If that sounds too amazing, just remind yourself of

Romans 12:2. God transforms us when we renew our minds.

Learn to be who God made you to be, not what others want you to be. Learn to please God and not necessarily those around you. Stay open-minded and willing to listen to advice. But after you’ve prayed about something, be bold and make a decision that is right for you. God has given you the grace to do what He’s called you to do. Remember that you have everything you need right now to fulfil your God-given destiny.

In the next blog, we’ll learn more about the practice of renewing your mind.

All POWER has been given me

Jesus said in the Bible that all power is given unto you. I will be researching this subject and sharing these concepts in my blog on life success notes. Let me state that I am not an original writer. I simply put together what others have said on these and many other subjects that interest me. I have set in my heart to learn what God requires of me. I have found that as Christians we are confused about wealth. The general feeling towards this is that wealth is a dangerous thing sought after only by the greedy who risk losing eternal life.

Life is good. It is good to consider God’s plan for our life. It is good to learn how to master life. Is it not? To learn to live a life of achievement and prosperity. We are going to apply these principles to our life and when we do that our life will change. These are principles from the Life Giver. I am looking forward to applying them to me, myself and I want to change. Don’t you? I am on an incredible journey in my life. I am learning to master every are of my life.

leaderIs this possible? Well according to Jesus, it is. All power is given to me. I am going to tap into that power. I want to experience complete mastery. A total life of achievement? Of prosperity? I am the test case. I will walk this road with Christ. So let’s see. My life transformed? Incredible! Brand new power? In every area of my life? Take a look at some of the verses He has given regarding the power He has given me. Country boy from Africa.

“For thine is the kingdom, and the POWER…” Matthew 6:13

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them POWER…” Matthew 10:1 I am to be like those disciple that are written about in the gospels that were ordinary people like me.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power …” 2Timothy 1:7. Not fear, but POWER. Wow!

Behold, I give unto you POWER…” Luke 10:19.

“Be strong in the Lord, and in the POWER of his might.” Ephesians 6:10.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he POWER…” John 1:12. Do you have that POWER? Dare I say that God has given me that POWER also.

“…that the POWER of Christ may rest upon me.” 2Corinthians 12:9. I claim this promise Lord.

“For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in POWER.” 1 Corinthians 4:20. Over and over the Bible tells me that we have the POWER to live a great life.

incredibleFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the POWER of God.” Romans1:16. Wonderful! Yet so few of us tap into that POWER. I have gone through life tossed and blown by every wind. I submit to God. I say change me. Let me take the POWER that has been given.

Is success in life really simple? To go from emotional and financial and spiritual poverty to actually become wealthy in all those areas? Well according to the Bible the answer is, “Yes! Absolutely! ” It is very easy to do it. Well why do so few of us ever do it? I think that is a mystery. Why does not everybody in the world do it? I am 55 and broke. I am here and I realise I have only lived maybe even less than 1/10 of what I could have been. I could have lived 100% of my life successfully. I am intelligent. I could have done it. No decision making muscle in my mind and body. It was not clear what I wanted in life. So, I got stuck. That is not a position I want to be. Hence this search. Things are changing in my life. So join me in a journey to success.
